All hot water systems require servicing to maintain efficient and safe operation. We recommend that your hot water system be serviced and inspect every year to ensure everything is operating correctly. We also recommend that the sacrificial anodes be replaced every 2-3 years to extend the life of the tank.

If your hot water system makes a lot of popping and crackling noises when it is heating up it could be due to “Kettling”. Kettling is when there is a build-up of sediment in the base of the tank. We can solve this problem by performing a routine service and anode replacement, followed by a tank flush to remove the sediment. If you stay on top of this and have it done every 2-3 years, it will prolong the life of your tank.

This could be due to the heating element inside the tank rupturing and tripping out the power. If this has happened to you, leave the power to the hot water system off and give us a call to replace the element, it can be very dangerous to try and fix an electric hot water system yourself so its best to leave it to the professionals.

As hot water systems are heating up you may notice some drippling from an open pipe or valve, these valves are called relief valves and they do exactly that, the valve doing its job to help release pressure from the tank as it heats. If this valve is always leaking, even when the tank is not heating it could be faulty and need replacing.
